About

About me

Hi, I’m Paul.

I've always been a bit of an adventurer, and after studying photography at university I spent the next 9 years travelling the world with my camera. Eventually I returned home to England where I moved to Brighton to study an MA in Photography and pursue a career as a photographer. Since then I have been exhibiting my photography throughout the UK and abroad, co founded the photography collective MAP6 and have recently been working in Tanzania as an expedition photographer for an NGO. Today I am settled in West Sussex, a beautiful part of England surrounded by dramatic coastlines, lush forests and rolling hills. In my free time I like to go on long walks in the countryside with my camera and tent. In the past few years I've walked across England three times, walked across France and Spain and one day hope to walk to Scotland. My photography is very much inspired by my surroundings, the sea and beach, forests, the rolling hills of the South Downs and the subtle changes in the light. Mostly however, I'm influenced by the couples I photograph, their story and how they came to be together, which usually attracts all kinds of adventurous and free spirited couples.

What I do

I am a storyteller and my aim is to capture what makes you, your family and your friends individual, whilst documenting your wedding day and all the things you might miss. Having worked as a portrait, documentary and fine art photographer, my style is a mix of portraiture, reportage and fine art ideas. I make images in a relaxed and unobtrusive way, capturing natural moments rather than overly posed. I let your day unfold naturally, nothing that isn’t you being yourselves. Even the most adventurous couples can be uncomfortable when having their picture taken, so I try to get to know each couple enabling me to bring out their personality in the way that I photograph them. I will never make couples do anything that would make them feel uneasy. We can meet beforehand and discuss your ideas about the images and places where we can make photographs. Most of the time during couple shoots we can just go for a walk stopping at 3-4 points along the way. I won’t get you to pose awkwardly, as I like to keep the experience relaxed as if you were just going for a walk with me on your wedding day.
